Angeliki Lemonidou is Professor Emerita of Chemical Engineering at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), Greece since 2024. She received her PhD in Chemical Engineering from the same university in 1990, subsequently joining its Department of Chemical Engineering as a faculty member. She was promoted to full professor in 2011. She served as Director of the Petrochemical Technology Laboratory from 2007 to 2024 and as Head of the Department from 2020 to 2022. She has also been an Associate Faculty Member of the Institute of Processes and Energy Resources at the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH). During her research sabbaticals in 2002 and 2008, she spent extended periods conducting research at leading universities abroad, including the Technical University of Munich (Germany), the University of Delaware, and the University of California, Berkeley (USA).
Prof. Lemonidou has authored 170 publications in international scientific journals. Her research has received widespread international recognition, with almost 16,000 citations and an h-index of 68 according to Google Scholar. In 2021, she received an award from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in recognition of the impact of her research, and in 2025, she received the Eminent Visitor Award from the Catalysis Society of South Africa. She serves as Executive Editor of Chemical Engineering Journal, a leading international scientific journal published by Elsevier. She has also contributed to the European Catalysis community through her service on the Board of the European Federation of Catalysis Societies (EFCATS) and as its Vice-President.
Her research interests span catalysis, reaction engineering, and process intensification, with particular emphasis on the development of novel materials and processes for hydrocarbon conversion, hydrogen production, CO₂ capture and utilization, biomass conversion, and the chemical recycling of plastic wastes.
